An outdated floral couch from the 80’s was my actual breaking point.
Yep. That was it.
It happened a few weeks ago when Eddie and I had different opinions about what to do with the flowery furniture taking up space in our living room. We went back and forth on our options, but nothing seemed to be working out.
I just started crying … and well, basically cried my way through the weekend.
So silly!
And yet, here I am— overwhelmed by the fullness of life right now. And the fullness encompasses SO many good things! But the truth is, I’m depleted and struggling to get back on track.
Can you relate?
Are you giving and helping your family so much that you’re feeling a bit lost in the journey?
Or maybe you’re a strong shoulder to cry on for a friend going through a difficult time– and you’re feeling the emotional weight of it all.
Perhaps you’re struggling to balance home life, work life, and all the lives in-between!
As a child, we used to sing a hymn in church entitled “’Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus” (Maybe you know it, too).
Here’s the chorus:
Jesus, Jesus how I trust Him
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er
Jesus, Jesus Precious Jesus
Oh for grace to trust Him more.
Oh for grace to trust Him MORE.
What would grace to trust Him more look like in your life?
What if you were able to trust Jesus for more grace to feel His sweet Presence right where you are? Right in the midst of all that’s going on around you … right now?
His grace toward us is an invitation to trust Him.
I was re-reading the story of Zaccheus in Luke 19 where he was struggling to see Jesus through the massive crowd. He decides to climb a sycamore tree in order to get a glimpse of Him.
Jesus stops right under that very tree , looks up, and next thing you know, ole’ Zach finds himself face-to-face with the Messiah, who speaks life-saving grace over him. (Luke 19:10).
Here’s the key: even just catching a glimpse of our Savior through the massive crowd of our struggles can connect us to the grace to trust Him more.
Ah, the sweetness of the presence of Jesus.
Here’s a prayer that you can print out and tape to your bathroom mirror to remind you to ask for more of His grace in ALL that you’re doing.
A prayer for the woman who is giving so much:
I love you Lord, and I need you.
Please show me what is mine to do in THIS situation.
I long to help others in any way I can, but find myself feeling depleted.
Replenish my soul with your sweet, sweet Presence.
And grant me the grace to trust You more.
‘Tis SO SWEET to trust in You.
Amen
May you have special moments of knowing the sweetness of the grace of Jesus in your life. I’m praying for you!
And you can pray that my ugly-floral-outdated-80’s-couch finds a new home VERY SOON! (Oh for grace to trust Him more in that! Hah!)
