Have you ever felt like you were simply In Over Your Head?

On one particular summer day last year, my morning prayer went like this:

Lord, this is a big week for me emotionally, physically, and mentally, and the one thing I CAN do is prepare for it spiritually. I need you. I trust you. Help me.

Now you might be wondering what I was facing. Well … please don’t laugh, but this particular August my I’m-in-over-my-head situation was throwing a baby shower at my house that upcoming weekend.

I know. I know. It probably sounds a bit silly. But it’s just who I am and how I’m wired.

It felt like a lot!

We had SO many projects to catch up on to get ready to host a large group. AND … in complete transparency, throwing a party is just not easy for my over-thinking personality.

Besides, this was not just any baby shower. It was for our oldest daughter — who was expecting twins!

But truly, whether I’m having a super busy week or facing a crisis, my strength comes from the Lord.

Here’s the verse that ministered to me during that in-over-my-head baby-shower planning season. Perhaps it will be just what you need today:

Matthew 28:20

And never forget that I am with you every day. (TPT)

I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age. (MSG)

You can download this printable index card with these verses on it, and tape it to your bathroom mirror or somewhere you’ll see it throughout your day.

So whatever your current I’m-in-over-my-head situation, take a moment to align your heart and mind to the One who will be with you each moment of every day.

And don’t be too hard on yourself if you’re struggling with something that seems easy for everybody else. (note to self! hah!)
